As a creative project, East Coast based producer Lightfoot’s new release Camp 4 blends head bobs with bops: all 17 tracks, each under two minutes, were produced solely on teenage engineering’s handheld Pocket Operator 33 (with a cracked screen, no less) and processed on the original version of Roland’s SP-404 sampler. An homage to the legendary lo-fi beat tapes of its predecessors,

Camp 4 — a reference to the PO-33’s ability to only trigger four sounds at one time — is a showcase for Lightfoot’s prodigious gift for shaping drums and samples into richly textured instrumentals.
